About the job
Manages & coordinates Engineers/technicians engaged in maintaining, servicing, and repairing Manlift Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP’s) & related equipment. Drives the efficient execution and monitors the performance of the Manlift wide maintenance strategy, spare planning, standards, processes, policies, and tools to optimize the availability for rental of all machines that are presented in safe, reliable and esthetically in good condition.
Your role as an Manager Technical
- Manages the Workshop, yard and related cells (first check, repair line, painting denting, fabrication, Washing and ready line) in a manner that supports our best practice goals, related to Operational efficiency in the Manlift “Rental cycle”, Safety, Health,
- Environment and Quality standards, and our customers’ expectations.
- Manages the field service complaint resolution and closure in a manner that supports to customer, to enhance product
- reliability by using our best practise goals, related to Operational efficiency in the Manlift “Rental cycle”, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality standards, and our customers’ expectations.
- Planning, Performing and discharging the activities as Workshop Manager role assigned in Insync, NetSuite, Insphire and in other systems.
- Planning, assigning, monitoring and doing the activities in the Insync system related to first check, repair line, field services and workshop related activities.
- Planning the machine repair activity according to First check, Tech fleet availability, and Commercial order and according to KPI goal.
- Manages the MEWP “field service” and “breakdowns” with efficiency and within our KPI goals.
- Ensures that work procedures are meeting or exceeding rental desk, operational and customer demands including requirements in line with our KPI’s and our continuous improvement goals and targets. Key existing “standard timing for processes” will be measured and improved upon.
- Monitoring managing and completing preventive maintenance of Manlift India Fleets.
- Spare and consumption planning according to First check report, Repair requirement, Preventive maintenance schedule and Site breakdown report.
- Directs technicians/engineers in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Maintenance, and Repair of machinery and equipment as per company requirements.
- Assists Engineer/Technician in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Directs Engineer/Technician engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installations on MEWP’s.
- Monitoring, controlling the requisitions and uses of spare parts in an efficient and orderly manner, including “good fault diagnosis “prior to any parts replacement. Assists the Spare parts controller in improving Kanban accuracy, and negotiation and procurement of spare parts, equipment, tools (from approved local and international suppliers).
- Guides others and uses Testing, Calibrating/Programming equipment for adjustment and diagnosis of machine functions, within set parameters, as provided by Manlift.
- Estimates job hour requirements for completion of job assignments, furthermore, develops these estimates into standardised labour and process times.
- Follows and Interprets company policies and procedures, including ensuring that Technicians/Engineers and direct reports, understand and follow the same. This includes following and using approved maintenance inspection, documents, field service documents, warranty documents and all safety and efficiency protocols.
- MEWP and personnel security during any carnage activity and securing equipment onto the transportation vehicles is the responsibility of the Technical Manager, Depot Manager, Logistics Manager and SHEQ Manager as a consortium.
- Ensures the correct use, efficient storage and security of all technical department tools and equipment.
- Interprets specifications & job work orders to Technicians/Engineers, and assigns duties.
- Recommends measures to continuously improve maintenance methods, equipment performance, and quality of work performed.
- Suggests improvements in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of workshop, department, or working team members.
- Carrying out skill and competency mapping of Engineers, Technicians. Identifying training requirement based on the assessment.
- In conjunction with the Country Operations Manager, defines/approves and monitors annual budgets, plans, and goals for the Technical Department. (Including training budgets).
- Consults with the Depot Manager/OH to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- As needed performs activities of Technician/Engineers supervised.
- Prevents cannibalization of equipment at the depots.
- The Management of maintenance for sales and sold equipment “Maintenance Agreements” is the responsibility of the
- Workshop Manager/Technical Manger in conjunction with the Sales Manager.
- Periodic reporting to the Depot Manager and Country Operations Manager provided in a timely manner, Including all direct reports performance appraisals.
- In conjunction with HR/OH, effectively on boards new employees.
- Works within the organizations “Code of Conduct” “SHEQ” “Operational Excellence” “Maintenance Policy”, relevant OEM
- procedures and ISO standards.
- In conjunction with the “TMW” champion conducts “Supplier Evaluations” Bi-annually, for top 20 suppliers and “critical to task”
- suppliers. (Includes labour and trade suppliers for contracted work tasks).
- The Country Operations Manager and Depot Manager may assign other duties.
- Works closely with the “TMW” Champion and “SHEQ” Manager to align all continuous improvement activities and best practices and knowledge transfer, including driving and supporting the development of Standardized Work to continuously improve quality, efficiency and consistency, in a structured and orderly workshop.

What do you have to offer us?
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in a Managerial/Supervisory role.
- Experience in the MEWPs, earthmoving equipment, Gen set industry, material handling equipment is necessary.
- Leadership and Supervisory skills.
- Enthusiastic and Self-motivated.
- Team player with excellent communication and people management skills.
- Negotiations skills.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS office.
- Fluent in English, Hindi , Local Language will be an advantage
Education
- Graduate/Post graduate or diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Automobile)
